Being rather fond of burgers and beer I was naturally excited by talk of a beery, beefy collaboration between BrewDog and London burger experts ‘Honest Burgers’. Particularly when I heard the details; it’s made with two of my favourite BrewDog beers, Punk and 5am Saint as well as their smokey stout, Paradox. I’ve not yet had the pleasure of eating ... I’ve loved Twitter for the past 6 years but never more so than when a random conversation led to an epic Sunday afternoon feast. I wasn’t even part of the original conversation either, it was started by Mal of Fire and Salt BBQ. He was in America at the time and casually mentioned that he’d seen burger places using potato rolls ... Read More »

Forget the John Lewis ad (or Coca-Cola if you’re feeling retro) it’s not Christmas for me until i’ve had the SoLita Christmas burger. OK, so it’s only the second year of this particular tradition but I hope it will continue and become as regular as the others. Last years was pretty spectacular but somehow they managed to top it with ... Read More »

It’s no secret that i’m quite partial to a burger, well good ones anyway. I’ve eaten many this year but one of my favourites is the ‘Peri Peri Chicken Topped Cheeseburger’ from my last visit to The Farmers Arms in Bolton. Since then they’ve launched a full burger menu with some fine looking creations which i’d been looking forward to trying. ... Read More »

It’s no secret that i’m a huge fan of SoLita in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. As somebody who loves to try new places there aren’t many restaurants I revisit regularly but thanks to Foursquare I know I’ve been to SoLita at least 21 times so far this year. Possibly bordering on obsessive? For fear of boring you all to death and ... Read More »

You’ve probably noticed that I don’t need much of an excuse to visit SoLita. I’ve spent an unhealthy amount of time there recently so after my last visit self-imposed a ban in the hope of maybe fitting into my holiday clothes in a couple of weeks. I lasted 13 days. Actually impressive by recent standards and the ban wasn’t broken ... Read More »

Unless you’ve been living under one of those proverbial rocks you can’t possibly have missed Andy Murray winning Wimbledon on Sunday. Being a patriotic Brit (or perhaps just sensing a marketing opportunity?) Franco, owner of SoLita decided to commemorate this momentous event with a special tribute burger. Since it’s launch on Monday ‘The Murray’ burger has been attracting almost as ... Read More »

After some fairly decent weather (by Manchester standards at least) during early June the last couple of weeks have seen a return to greyer, colder and much wetter days. This downturn seemed to have coincided precisely with the launch of SoLita’s new summer menu last Tuesday. I was lucky enough to receive an early draft of the new menu from owner Franco ... If you’ve read my Almost Famous review you’ll know that I have a problem with their ‘edgy’ attitude & marketing. So you may find it strange that I loved MEATliquor as it’s pretty clear that Almost Famous were very heavily inspired by them in the first place. There are a few subtle differences though, firstly whilst MEATliqour do have a ... Read More »

Just like my previous post about Guerrilla Eats at The Beagle i’m defying my slight OCD tendencies to bring you this review from yesterday’s Byron opening before my backlog from last weekend. Only because it’s another current event, we’re definitely back to chronological order after this one or i’ll quite possibly be driven insane. If you don’t know about Byron ... Read More »

A few months ago whilst watching an old episode of ‘Man V’s Food’ I was fascinated by a steamed burger that Adam Richmond tried and loved in Connecticut. I wondered whether there was anywhere in the UK offering this intriguing sounding delicacy and thanks to the power of Twitter was told that Miskins in London was the place to go. ... Read More »

That’s the question I found myself asking a few weeks ago when Parmo talk first infiltrated my Twitter feed. Initially from @LoveParmo, whom I’ve no idea how or why I was following (though I’m glad I do!) and then from my friends SoLita who went on to create their own version. I thought I must’ve been living on another planet as ... Read More »

I love burgers but thanks to the Hard Rock Cafe, Almost Famous and especially SoLita i’ve eaten rather a lot of them lately. As I made my way to Gorilla Bar & Kitchen, a place I know is renowned for serving decent burgers but also has a much more varied menu I repeated “must not order burger, must not order ... Read More »

Believe it or not I don’t write about all of my trips to SoLita, as they’ve featured in so many posts over the past few months I genuinely arrive most times intending not to blog about what I eat but it usually ends up being so good I just can’t resist. I have restrained myself from blogging on a few ... Read More »

I was recently invited to the Hard Rock Cafe in Manchester to sample their relaunched ‘Legendary Burger’ menu. I generally turn down similar offers for a variety of reasons but mainly because they’re often not places i’m interested in visiting. However, as a bit of a burger connoisseur and a fan of rock music I thought it would be an interesting opportunity ... Read More »
